After yesterday’s nostalgic Linux post, I’ve been reflecting on how far my setup has come.

I’ve used Linux for years, but I only truly dove into self-hosting after running a Bitcoin node with @umbrel.

From there, I started hosting everything I could — including my own full mail server.

Today, all transactional emails for my apps run from one single machine. No Resend, no Postmark, zero per-email fees.

Just Mail-in-a-Box (Postfix + Dovecot), handling DKIM, SPF, and DMARC perfectly. DNS managed via Namecheap’s API.

The part I love most: I barely touch it now. My Claude (or Kimi) agent creates new mailboxes on any domain, updates DNS, and manages everything automatically.

Only manual step left: buying the domain (deliberately — no saved payment method).

What’s the self-hosted service you’re most proud of running right now?
